Dr Georgios Chatzopoulos is a Specialist in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery. He graduated from the Dental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2014. Following the completion of his DDS he was accepted to a three-year training program in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery at the University of Minnesota (USA), where he obtained a Certificate in Periodontology. In addition, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Dentistry and Biostatistics from the University of Minnesota. He has been awarded the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery, consisting of the highest recognition awarded in Periodontology in the USA. Dr Georgios Chatzopoulos is the only dentist based in Greece trained and certified on the use of a minimally invasive technique for the management of gum recessions, the Pinhole Surgical Technique® or Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation that avoids the use of blades, sutures or grafts. In 2018 Dr Chatzopoulos started working privately in London, UK, as a periodontist and implantologist, where he obtained significant clinical experience in the management of complex periodontal and peri-implant cases, regenerative techniques for the correction of gum or bone deficiencies and the placement of dental implants. He was recognized as a Specialist Periodontist by the General Dental Council (GDC) of the United Kingdom. Simultaneously he served as a clinical fellow at the Centre for Oral Clinical Research of the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). Dr Chatzopoulos has participated in numerous clinical trials resulting in scientific publications at prestigious dental journals and has participated as a presenter in multiple national and international dental conferences. His research activity has led to academic awards from scientific communities such as the American Academy of Periodontology, the Osteology Foundation and the Midwest Society of Periodontology. In 2021 he returned to Greece and co-founded with his wife Dr Vasiliki Koidou the private practice Thess Perio, located downtown in Thessaloniki. Dr Chatzopoulos practices exclusively periodontology and implantology.
